While relatively new — released in 2008 — the SMPTE Standard already has some implementations and activity, but it has not led to widespread use. It is a very comprehensive standard covering:
- Schedule and ‘as run’ information
- Content Metadata
- Content Movement Instructions.
- What can be done with it, what rights come with it.
Current implementations tend to be inside large media organizations, such as Hearst-Argyle, Telemundo, and Red Bee Media. BXF Metadata is not directly supported in Final Cut Pro X, Premiere Pro CC or Media Composer.
