File-based cameras generally carry significant amounts of metadata. The specifics vary from one camera to another, particularly from one format to another. P2 Media and AVCCAM media from Panasonic is rich in metadata, as is the R3D format from RED Digital Cinema.
Sony’s XDCAM has some rudimentary metadata, but it’s far less than for DVPRO HD and AVCIntra files from P2 media.
